Privately funded clean-up
Our model brings private investment into site acquisition, remediation and development. The clean-up is funded through the commercial project, without relying on taxpayers to meet that cost.
OUR APPROACH
The communities around our sites should share in the opportunity our business creates. Our social value approach connects how we buy, who we employ and how we invest in the places around us.
We will work with local people, businesses and organisations to turn these three priorities into practical opportunities and community improvements.
BROWNFIELD REGENERATION
Platform focuses on former industrial sites where clean-up costs and complex site conditions have made conventional redevelopment difficult. Private investment and modular infrastructure can create a practical route back into use.
Our model brings private investment into site acquisition, remediation and development. The clean-up is funded through the commercial project, without relying on taxpayers to meet that cost.
Modular data centres bring a productive use to the land, supporting digital infrastructure, skilled work and local suppliers. On suitable sites, a short-to-medium-term deployment can form a stage in a longer regeneration programme, aligned with the agreed site plan and customer commitments.
Infrastructure designed for relocation or reconfiguration can help preserve options for future housing, employment space or other redevelopment that benefits the community. We want today’s investment to help unlock the land’s longer-term potential.
Any future use would depend on local needs, planning approval and technical suitability. Further assessment and remediation may be needed for a different use, including housing.
Regeneration at Bank QuaySUPPORTING LOCAL SUPPLIERS
Local businesses should be able to grow with us. Long payment cycles can put pressure on smaller suppliers, limiting their ability to invest in people, equipment and delivery.
Where applicable, we will offer favourable payment terms to local small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). Payment schedules will be agreed clearly at the outset, with a commitment to paying in line with those terms. Our aim is to support cash flow and help local suppliers invest and grow alongside Platform.
Appropriate arrangements will be discussed with each supplier, reflecting the work and delivery requirements.
ACROSS PLATFORM
Our approach spans Platform DC, Platform Modular and Platform FM. We want consideration for people, places and local opportunity to inform how we develop, manufacture, deploy and support infrastructure.
START A CONVERSATION
We welcome conversations with local organisations, businesses and education providers as we develop our social value proposition.

PLATFORM SOCIAL VALUE FUND
Three priorities.
Lasting local benefit.
The Fund is being developed around three practical priorities. Together, they connect opportunities for local businesses and people with improvements to the communities around our operations.
Local supply chain
Create opportunities for capable local suppliers across construction, engineering, manufacturing and ongoing support. Where applicable, offer favourable payment terms to local SMEs so they can manage cash flow, invest and grow alongside Platform.
What this could look like: A local engineering or maintenance business supplying a Platform site, with clear payment terms agreed from the outset.
Hiring local people
Help local people access jobs across manufacturing, installation, operations, servicing and maintenance. Our aim is to develop routes into these roles through training, apprenticeships and relationships with local education providers.
What this could look like: A local resident gaining the training and experience to join a manufacturing or maintenance team, with a route to long-term employment.
Regenerating our communities
Improve the neighbourhoods around our sites as well as bringing brownfield land back into use. Work with residents and local organisations to identify useful improvements, including playgrounds, green spaces and shared community facilities.
What this could look like: A new or refurbished playground within a nearby residential area, shaped by what local families need.
Local needs and community input will shape the priorities at each location. The Fund’s structure, governance, funding and allocation arrangements are being developed; the examples above illustrate the kinds of opportunity and improvement we want to support.
